Categories of cookies we use

These cookies are required for the Site to function. They cannot be switched off and do not require consent under GDPR or CCPA.
- NEXT_LOCALE — remembers your selected language. Duration: session.
- payload-token — admin session for editorial staff. Duration: 7 days. Set only when admin login.
- NEXT_USER_STATE / NEXT_USER_STATE_COUNTRY — geo-derived state and country codes used to localize price / availability copy. Set from CloudFlare edge headers; never tied to your account. Duration: 30 days.
2. Functional (optional)
- compare-list — drugs / providers you added to Compare drawer. Stored in localStorage. Duration: until manually cleared.
- view-history— last 20 pages viewed, to power "Continue reading" suggestions. Stored in localStorage. Duration: 60 days from last visit.
- cookie-consent — your consent choices, to suppress the banner on repeat visits. Duration: 12 months.
3. Analytics (optional, opt-in)
- Vercel Analytics / self-hosted PostHog — anonymized pageview + interaction metrics. IP truncated to /24 server-side before storage. No cross-site tracking. Duration: 12 months aggregated.
- Sentry — JavaScript error reports. Captures stack traces, browser info, and the URL where error occurred. No form input contents. Duration: 90 days.
4. Affiliate / conversion (optional, opt-in)
- aff_click_id — randomly generated click ID assigned when you click an affiliate link. Sent to the partner with your click to attribute commission if you sign up. Contains no personal data. Duration: 30 days.
- aff_variant — A/B test bucket (0 or 1) assigned via FNV-1a hash of your click ID. Used to measure which link copy converts. Duration: 30 days.
- Partner platforms (Impact, Commission Junction, ShareASale, Rakuten, AvantLink) may also drop their own cookies after click-through. Those cookies are governed by the partner's cookie policy, not ours.
Third-party cookies
We do not use third-party advertising cookies (no Google Ads, no Facebook Pixel, no programmatic display). The only third-party cookies set on our domain come from:
- CloudFlare (DDoS protection + bot mitigation) — strictly necessary.
- Affiliate networks after explicit user click-through — opt-in via the click action itself.
Your choices
You can manage cookie preferences three ways:
- Consent banner — shown on your first visit. You can accept all, reject optional, or customize per category.
- Browser settings — most browsers let you block or delete cookies. Note that blocking strictly necessary cookies will break Site functionality.
- Global Privacy Control (GPC) — if your browser sends the GPC signal we honor it as an opt-out of analytics + affiliate tracking, per CCPA / CPRA.
Do Not Track
DNT browser headers are inconsistently implemented and we treat them as advisory. We honor GPC (above) as the binding signal under California law.
