Foundayo (Orforglipron): The Any-Time GLP-1 Pill

Foundayo is the brand name for orforglipron, Eli Lilly’s once-daily oral GLP-1 receptor agonist, FDA-approved in April 2026 for chronic weight management in adults with obesity (or overweight with a weight-related condition). Unlike oral semaglutide, it’s a non-peptide pill you can take any time of day with no food or water restrictions.

In the Phase 3 ATTAIN-1 trial (72 weeks), people on the highest dose lost about 12.4% of body weight on average (roughly 27 lb), versus about 0.9% on placebo. That’s meaningful, but lower on average than the oral Wegovy pill (~16.6% on-treatment) and the strongest injectables — orforglipron’s edge is convenience, not peak weight loss.

They’re different trade-offs. Oral semaglutide (the Wegovy pill) produced more average weight loss (~16.6% on-treatment vs ~12.4%) but must be taken on an empty stomach with a sip of water, then a 30-minute wait. Orforglipron (Foundayo) is a non-peptide pill with no food, water, or timing rules — easier to live with. The “better” one depends on whether you prioritize maximum weight loss or convenience.

Foundayo is prescription-only — you can get it through your doctor or a telehealth provider who evaluates you and prescribes if appropriate. As a newly launched brand, list and cash-pay pricing are still settling and vary by pharmacy, plan, and any manufacturer savings program; confirm the current price before filling.

As a GLP-1, orforglipron’s most common side effects are gastrointestinal — nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and constipation — usually mild-to-moderate and easing with slow dose titration, like other drugs in the class.
