What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. They are widely used to make sites work efficiently, remember your preferences, measure traffic, and serve relevant advertising. Similar technologies covered by this policy include local storage, session storage, pixels, and SDK identifiers.
Categories of cookies we use
1. Strictly necessary (always on)
These cookies are required for the Site to function. They cannot be switched off and do not require consent under GDPR or CCPA.
- NEXT_LOCALE — remembers your selected language. Duration: session.
- payload-token — admin session for editorial staff. Duration: 7 days. Set only when admin login.
- NEXT_USER_STATE / NEXT_USER_STATE_COUNTRY — geo-derived state and country codes used to localize price / availability copy. Set from CloudFlare edge headers; never tied to your account. Duration: 30 days.
2. Functional (optional)
- compare-list — drugs / providers you added to Compare drawer. Stored in localStorage. Duration: until manually cleared.
- view-history— last 20 pages viewed, to power "Continue reading" suggestions. Stored in localStorage. Duration: 60 days from last visit.
- goodx_consent_v1 — your consent choices, to suppress the banner on repeat visits. Duration: 12 months.
3. Analytics (cookieless — opt-out via Global Privacy Control or the banner)
- Umami Cloud, Cloudflare Web Analytics, and Plausible — all cookieless, privacy-first analytics. Anonymized aggregate pageview + Core Web Vitals metrics only. No analytics cookies are set, and there is no cross-site tracking. Plausible Insights OÜ is EU-hosted (Estonia). Honored as opt-out via GPC or the cookie banner.
- Sentry — JavaScript error reports. Captures stack traces, browser info, and the URL where error occurred. No form input contents. Duration: 90 days.
4. Affiliate / conversion (first-party, on by default — opt out via Global Privacy Control or the banner)
- gx_sid — a random first-party session identifier (UUID), HttpOnly, 30-day duration. When you click through to a telehealth or pharmacy partner, a pseudonymous attribution ID derived from gx_sid is transmitted to that partner so a commission can be credited if you sign up. It contains no name, email, or other directly identifying data. This runs by default under our legitimate interest in measuring referrals, and is suppressed when you send a Global Privacy Control signal or opt out in the cookie banner.
- The affiliate networks we work through — Impact.com, Sovrn Commerce, and Katalys — and the telehealth / pharmacy partners themselves may set their own cookies after click-through. Those are governed by the partner's cookie policy, not ours.
Third-party cookies
We do not use third-party advertising cookies (no Google Ads, no Facebook Pixel, no programmatic display). The only third-party cookies set on our domain come from:
- CloudFlare (DDoS protection + bot mitigation) — strictly necessary.
- Affiliate networks after explicit user click-through — opt-in via the click action itself.
Your choices
You can manage cookie preferences three ways:
- Consent banner — shown on your first visit. You can accept all, reject optional, or customize per category.
- Browser settings — most browsers let you block or delete cookies. Note that blocking strictly necessary cookies will break Site functionality.
- Global Privacy Control (GPC) — if your browser sends the GPC signal we honor it as an opt-out of analytics + affiliate tracking, per CCPA / CPRA.
Do Not Track
DNT browser headers are inconsistently implemented and we treat them as advisory. We honor GPC (above) as the binding signal under California law.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect new tools or legal requirements. Material changes will be flagged at the top of this page and in the cookie banner.
