A closure is never announced the way a launch is. The manufacturer page simply disappears, and every site built on a template keeps advertising it. This is the list of which ones stopped, when, and which of three different things actually happened.

This is a rename, not a withdrawal, and treating it as one is the commonest error on this list. Novo retired the US Rybelsus brand and the same molecule now dispenses as Ozempic tablets from May 4, 2026; the FDA shortage database records the Rybelsus NDCs as to-be-discontinued and replaced by Ozempic tablets. The strengths changed with it — the old 3, 7 and 14 mg map to 1.5, 4 and 9 mg — so a card, a price and a dose all move together. The brand continues under its own name outside the US.

Byetta (exenatide)

Manufacturer: AstraZeneca

AstraZeneca discontinued Byetta in 2024 and it is no longer manufactured, so any savings program for it is historical. Exenatide has no direct successor in the weight-management or diabetes GLP-1 range that carries the dose across — a switch means starting the new molecule at its own beginning dose.

The dose is the trap here: Bydureon BCise ran 2 mg of exenatide weekly, and Mounjaro starts at 2.5 mg of tirzepatide weekly — nearly the same number for a completely different molecule, where 2 mg was a maintenance dose and 2.5 mg is the lowest starting one.

Victoza (liraglutide)

Novo Nordisk discontinued brand Victoza in April 2024, so its savings card is historical rather than closed — there is no brand product left for it to apply to. Generic liraglutide from third-party manufacturers launched the same year and is the route that remains; confirm with your pharmacy which one they dispense, because a generic is not covered by a brand card in any case.

Why this list has to exist

A savings-card page is usually generated from a template that assumes the programme exists, and nothing in that template checks whether it still does. Closures do not get press releases — the manufacturer page quietly stops offering enrolment, and every site built on the assumption keeps advertising a card that cannot be used. We ran into this in our own data: the Saxenda offer was being surfaced across our pages three years after it shut, which is why closure is now a first-class field here rather than a footnote, and why a build check fails if a closed programme is ever quoted with a price.

What to do when the card you had has ended

Work out which of the three cases you are in first, because the answer differs. A closed programme on a drug still soldmeans comparing what your plan leaves you against the manufacturer's cash price — start with what your plan actually covers. A withdrawn brandmeans a switch, and the thing people get wrong there is dose: milligrams do not carry across molecules, so you restart at the new drug's own beginning dose. A renamed brand means checking the strength mapping before your next fill, because the numbers on the box changed even though the medicine did not.
