How to take Wegovy
- Inject under the skin of the abdomen, thigh or upper arm, rotating the site with each dose. The time of day and the injection site can change without changing the dose.
- Use only if the solution is clear and colorless with no particles.
- The FlexTouch pen holds four doses and must never be shared, even with a new needle. The label does not recommend it for people with impaired vision to use on their own.
- Wegovy tablets: one tablet each morning on an empty stomach with up to 4 ounces of water, swallowed whole; wait at least 30 minutes before food, drink or other oral medicines. The dose starts at 1.5 mg and rises every 30 days through 4 mg and 9 mg to 25 mg.
What if you miss a dose?
If your next scheduled dose is more than 2 days (48 hours) away, inject the missed dose as soon as possible. If it is less than 2 days away, skip it and inject on your usual day.

FAQ about Wegovy dosage
Can I change the day or time I take Wegovy?
The label lets the time of day and the injection site change without a dose change. It sets no rule for moving the weekly day itself, so ask your pharmacist before switching days.
What happens if I take too much Wegovy?
Overdoses of GLP-1 drugs have caused severe nausea, severe vomiting and severe low blood sugar. Call Poison Help (1-800-222-1222) or get medical care. Semaglutide has a half-life of about a week, so the label says observation and treatment may need to last longer.
Can children take Wegovy?
Approved for weight reduction from age 12. The maintenance dose for children is 2.4 mg (recommended) or 1.7 mg once weekly; 7.2 mg is for adults only.
