Trulicity is not approved for weight loss, so there is no weight-loss timeline of its own to quote. What its label does set is how quickly the dose is raised, below.
When Trulicity reaches its full dose
- Weeks 1–4: 0.75 mg/week — Starting dose; it can also stay the maintenance dose.
- After 4+ weeks: 1.5 mg/week — Only if blood sugar needs more control.
- After 4+ more weeks: 3 mg/week
- After 4+ more weeks: 4.5 mg/week — Maximum dose.
When to reassess
The Trulicity label sets no time point for judging whether it is working. Ask your prescriber when they plan to review your response, and do not change the dose on your own.
Why GLP-1 medicines work gradually, and what the first weeks usually feel like, is covered once for the whole class in how long GLP-1 medications take to work.
